McMaster’s Jamal Deen has been elected President of the Royal Society of Canada’s Science Academy.

The week of May 6 was a memorable one in the life of Engineering professor Jamal Deen. That Monday in Regina, Saskatchewan, Deen was presented with the McNaughton Gold Medal — the highest award for engineers in Canada, presented by the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers.

Jamal Deen, professor of electrical and computer engineering and Senior Canada Research Chair in Information Technology at McMaster University, was recently presented with the 2011 IEEE Canada R.A. Fessenden Award at the 24th Canadian Conference on Electrical and Computer Engineering held in Niagara Falls.

The Indo-Canada Chamber of Commerce (ICCC) recently recognized two McMaster professors for their contributions to the community at its annual awards and gala night in Toronto.

Jamal Deen, professor of electrical and computer engineering at McMaster, has been elected a Fellow of the American Physical Society (APS). He is the first engineering professor at McMaster to receive this recognition.
